Complete & Partial Dentures in Chennai — Comfortable, Natural-Looking Tooth Replacement

Missing teeth affect more than your appearance. They change how you eat, how clearly you speak, and how confidently you interact with people. For patients who have lost multiple teeth or all of them dentures remain one of the most accessible, reliable, and well-proven solutions in modern dentistry.

At M and M Advanced Dentistry, Adyar, our prosthodontic team has been fitting dentures for patients across Chennai for over [X] years. We custom-fabricate every denture to your jaw's exact measurements, ensuring a stable fit, natural appearance, and comfortable daily function from day one.

What Are Dentures and Who Needs Them?

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. They are fabricated from high-grade acrylic resin, sometimes combined with metal frameworks or porcelain teeth, and are designed to closely mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth.

You may be a candidate for dentures if you have lost several teeth due to decay, gum disease, or injury; if your remaining teeth are too damaged to save; or if you are looking for an affordable alternative to dental implants. Dentures are also frequently recommended for patients who are not medically suitable for surgical implant procedures for example, those on blood thinners or with uncontrolled systemic conditions.

According to the Indian Dental Association, removable dentures are one of the most commonly prescribed prosthetic treatments in India, with millions of patients relying on them for daily function. With proper care, a well-fitted denture provides 7–10 years of comfortable service before a reline or replacement is needed.

Types of Dentures Available in Chennai

Not every tooth-loss situation is the same. We offer four types of dentures at M and M Advanced Dentistry, each suited to a different clinical need.

The Denture Fitting Process — Step by Step

1

Initial consultation and oral examination

Your first visit involves a thorough examination of your remaining teeth, gum health, and jawbone condition. We take X-rays if needed and discuss which denture type suits your anatomy, lifestyle, and budget. You leave with a written treatment plan and timeline.

2

Impressions and bite measurements

We take precise impressions of your upper and lower jaws using impression materials that capture every contour of your gum ridge. Bite records are taken to establish the correct vertical dimension of your face this determines how far apart your jaws sit when closed, which affects both comfort and facial appearance.

3

Trial fitting and shade selection

A wax trial denture is placed in your mouth before the final version is fabricated. This allows you to assess the fit, tooth shape, and shade in real conditions eating, speaking, and looking in a mirror. Adjustments to tooth arrangement or gum colour are made at this stage at no additional cost.

4

Final denture delivery and fit adjustment

Your finished denture is delivered and checked for pressure points, occlusion (bite alignment), and aesthetics. Minor adjustments are made chairside. We schedule follow-up visits at one week and one month to fine-tune the fit as your gums naturally settle.

Getting dentures at M and M Advanced Dentistry is a structured, patient-paced process. Here is exactly what to expect.

Dentures vs Dental Implants Which Is Right for You?

Both dentures and implants replace missing teeth, but they work very differently and suit different patients. Understanding the distinction helps you make the right long-term decision.

Dental implants are surgically placed titanium posts that fuse with the jawbone they are permanent, require no removal, and stimulate the bone to prevent shrinkage. They cost significantly more upfront (₹30,000–₹60,000 per implant) but last a lifetime with proper care and require no adhesives or daily soaking.

Dentures are removable, non-surgical, and completed in 3–5 appointments. They are the right choice when bone volume is insufficient for implants, when the patient is medically unsuitable for surgery, or when cost is the primary consideration. The tradeoff is that dentures rest on the gum surface they do not stimulate the bone underneath, which leads to gradual bone resorption and a changing fit over the years, requiring periodic relining.

At M and M Advanced Dentistry, we present both options honestly and help you choose based on your bone condition, health profile, and long-term goals not on which treatment is more profitable.

Frequently Asked Questions

New dentures cause mild soreness and increased saliva flow for the first 1–2 weeks while your mouth adapts. This is completely normal. Minor pressure points are adjusted at follow-up visits. Persistent pain beyond 3–4 weeks, or sudden new pain in a denture worn for years, indicates a fit problem that needs professional attention do not continue wearing a painful denture.

At M and M Advanced Dentistry, the full process from first consultation to final denture delivery takes 3–5 weeks for conventional dentures. Immediate dentures can be placed on the day of extraction. Implant-supported overdentures require 3–4 months for implant integration before the denture is attached.

Complete dentures replace all the teeth in an arch when no natural teeth remain. Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth when healthy natural teeth are still present. Partial dentures use those remaining teeth as anchor points, making them more stable than complete dentures.

We recommend removing your dentures at night. Sleeping with dentures in accelerates bone resorption under the denture, restricts blood flow to the gum tissue, and significantly increases the risk of fungal infection (denture stomatitis). Removing them at night and soaking in water gives your gum tissue the rest it needs and extends the life of the denture.

Most patients notice a slight change in pronunciation during the first week, particularly with sounds like 's' and 'f'. This resolves naturally as your tongue and lips adapt to the new tooth position. Reading aloud at home for 15–20 minutes a day accelerates this adaptation. If speech difficulties persist beyond 2–3 weeks, a denture adjustment is needed.

Lower complete dentures are inherently less stable than upper ones because the lower jaw moves constantly during speaking and eating, and there is less gum surface area for suction. If conventional lower denture stability is a problem, implant-supported lower overdentures using two implants are a highly effective and relatively affordable upgrade they eliminate movement entirely.
